Medical graduates aiming for postgraduate studies must meet NEET PG 2024 eligibility criteria outlined in the information brochure by the National Board of Education (NBE). Criteria include age, qualifications, nationality, and domicile.
Candidates with an MBBS degree recognized under the NMC Act, 2019, and a registration certificate can apply for NEET-PG 2024 if they have completed or will finish a one-year internship by June 30, 2023. Apply online at https://nbe.edu.in.
Candidates who are deemed ineligible at any point during NEET-PG 2024 will not be allowed to participate in the exam or counseling. In the rare circumstance that an ineligible candidate does take part and succeeds in NEET-PG 2024, their results and candidacy will be nullified or considered void.
Candidates who finished their internship after June 30, 2024, or have qualifications not recognized under the NMC Act, 2019, and the repealed IMC Act, 1956, will not be allowed to participate in NEET-PG 2024. It is recommended that candidates do not push for their inclusion in such cases.
The start and end dates for the 12-month Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship are final. Candidates must show the original completion certificate during the counseling/admission process at the designated Medical College/Institute.
The Medical Colleges' recognition cut-off dates for candidates who have completed their MBBS Degree Course and compulsory rotatory Internship in 2024 will follow the guidelines set by the NMC or the former Medical Council of India. Any colleges recognized after the NMC's specified cut-off date will not be taken into account.
Registration with the NMC, formerly known as the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council, is required. Candidates must provide documentary evidence on the examination day and during counseling/admission.
Candidates pursuing postgraduate courses under specific quotas should check university eligibility criteria, as some institutions may not admit those currently enrolled elsewhere. NBE/MoHFW/Designated Counseling Authority are not responsible for admission rejections. Candidates assume risk and expense when selecting subjects and colleges.
The eligibility criteria for Non-Resident Indians (NRI) seeking admission to Deemed Universities will align with the guidelines outlined in the Supreme Court order dated 22/08/2017 in WP 689/2017.
The eligibility of candidates who receive admit cards for the exam will be considered provisional. Taking the NEET-PG 2024 exam does not guarantee automatic admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses.
NEET PG Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Foreign Medical Graduates
Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India with medical qualifications from outside India must pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. They need to be registered with NMC or State Medical Council and complete their internship by June 30, 2024. Foreign Medical Graduates must provide FMGE Pass certificate and registration certificate on the exam day.
NEET PG Eligibility Criteria 2024 for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals are not required to hold temporary registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) when applying for NEET-PG. They can take the NEET-PG exam without NMC registration. However, upon payment of the specified fee for registration, the NMC may grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate course, limited to the specific medical college or institution where the individual is currently enrolled for postgraduate studies. Additionally, this temporary registration is contingent upon the foreign national being properly registered with the relevant authority in their home country, where they acquired their Basic Medical qualification, and are duly recognized by the corresponding Medical Council or the pertinent authority.
